The star has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to save the United Kingdom's grassroots live music spots.

The star was awarded the prize on 16 October as his latest record his work was chosen as the best record of the previous year.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function local spots played in his early career.

"I couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Recently, major artists such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

He also participated, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds supported spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues were granted monetary aid in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted musicians and audiences.

"The notion that funds from performances in big venues backs the local stages, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

Two years ago, they donated their funds to the community center that developed their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also the 1994 recipients the group gave their prize to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the disease.

"The victory was ample," said singer Heather Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the cake. So our victory affected another person's life."

Last week, the trust announced it had rescued two small stages in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is supported by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
