Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed employees about this decision through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a clearer direction.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise development group.

The gamer responses from last fall’s the game demo was informative. It affirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It revealed the need for a more distinct brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to mind and revamped the title with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our audience.
The belief in this project strengthens every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. After some time of discussions, he comes aboard us on next week.
