A comeback the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
